An inspiring and versatile musician, Aaron Breid is rapidly garnering acclaim as an operatic and symphonic conductor. In the last five years, Maestro Breid has stepped in to conduct more than a dozen performances of Turandot, Carmen, Il trovatore, Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Così fan tutte, and The Ballad of Baby Doe with Minnesota Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Omaha, and Virginia Opera.

For the 2017/2018 season, Maestro Breid will appear as Guest Conductor with the Omaha Symphony, Orchestra Seattle/Seattle Chamber Singers, Minnesota Opera, Heartland Philharmonic Orchestra, and UNO’s Chamber Orchestra, in addition to serving as Cover Conductor for Washington National Opera’s The Little Prince and North Carolina Opera’s Samson et Dalila.

In the previous two seasons, Mo. Breid made his conducting debuts with Virginia Opera (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Opera Santa Barbara (Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi), and Opera Omaha (Opera Outdoors). He also covered performances with the Charlotte Symphony and Sarasota Opera.

In 2015, Mo. Breid was named Associate Conductor of Central City Opera, where in his first season he conducted a production of Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, and has taken the podium to conduct performances of The Ballad of Baby Doe, Carmen, Così fan tutte, Die Zauberflöte, and Il trovatore.

Previously, Mo. Breid served as Assistant/Cover Conductor for Minnesota Opera for four seasons where he had collaborated on twenty productions, including the world-premiere of Silent NightThe Manchurian CandidateDoubt, and The Dream of Valentino. He conducted over a dozen performances of TurandotCarmen, and Die Zauberflöte - a production the Star Tribune heralded as the “…embodiment of classical clarity,” and additionally served as Chorusmaster for productions ranging from Verdi’s Nabucco to Thomas’ Hamlet. 

Past seasons have seen Mo. Breid collaborate in productions with San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program, Des Moines Metro Opera, Brevard Music Festival; symphony highlights have included performances with Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Ocala Symphony, Golden Valley Symphony, and the Edina Chorale and Orchestra. Mo. Breid is an alumnus of the prestigious Pierre Monteux School for Conductors.
