An inspiring and versatile musician, Aaron Breid is rapidly garnering acclaim as an operatic and symphonic conductor. In the last five years, Maestro Breid has stepped in to conduct more than a dozen performances of Turandot, Carmen, Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica, Il barbiere di Siviglia, and The Ballad of Baby Doe with Minnesota Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Omaha, and Virginia Opera.

In the 2016-2017 season, Maestro Breid will be making his Opera Omaha debut conducting Opera in the Park, as well as covering a subscription concert with Charlotte Symphony in Charlotte, NC. Mo. Breid returns to Virginia Opera for productions of Pagliacci/7 Deadly Sins, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Der Freischütz, and Turandot.

Maestro Breid’s 2015-2016 season included debuts with Opera Santa Barbara conducting Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi, Virginia Opera covering La bohème, and Sarasota Opera covering Così fan tutte. Mo. Breid was also named Associate Conductor of Central City Opera, where in his first season he conducted a production of Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, several performances of The Ballad of Baby Doe, and covered a new production of Tosca. The 2017 summer season will see him on the podium for performances of both Carmen and Così fan tutte.

Previously, Mo. Breid served as Assistant/Cover Conductor for Minnesota Opera for four seasons where he had collaborated on twenty productions, including the world-premiere of Silent NightThe Manchurian CandidateDoubt, and The Dream of Valentino. In addition, he conducted over a dozen performances of TurandotCarmen, and Die Zauberflöte - a production the Star Tribune heralded as the “…embodiment of classical clarity.”

Past seasons have seen Mr. Breid collaborate in productions with the Merola Opera Program, Des Moines Metro Opera, Brevard Music Festival; symphony highlights have included performances with Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Ocala Symphony, Golden Valley Symphony, and Edina Chorale and Orchestra. Mo. Breid is an alumnus of the prestigious Pierre Monteux School for Conductors.
